Barr Prepping For Georgia House Bid

Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr (R) is telling friends in Georgia that he will be running for Congress next year.

A handful of Republican congressmen are considering running for the seat of Senator Saxby Chambliss (R), who has announced that he will not seek another term, so there could be a number of open House seats in the state.

Barr was the Libertarian Party nominee for president in 2008, but he apparently has returned to the GOP. He served four terms in Congress but lost to fellow-Republican John Linder in a 2002 GOP primary after Democrats in the Legislature threw the two Republican incumbents together during redistricting.
